Telephonic Interview Tips
Interview assumes an important role in the job hunting process. There is no common pattern for interview and it comes in different forms.
The concept of telephonic Interview is gaining more acceptance all over the world. This method gives the employer an opportunity to evaluate the candidate on the following areas:
- Communication skill
- Knowledge on the subject and presence of mind
The following tips will help you to prepare for any telephonic interview.
- Ensure that your mobile phone battery is charged up if you are using your mobile phone for taking the telephonic interview.
- Ensure that you also give additional telephone number in case if the interviewer unable to reach you in your hand phone.
- Ensure that while attending the telephonic interview there is no disturbance or noise around you.
- Make sure that there is a proper coverage for your mobile phone.
- If possible, please give your land line number also to the interviewer as a back up.
- Keep a copy of your resume while taking the interview.
- If you feel you lack adequate communication skills, attempt to regularly converse with friends on general topics. Listen to the radio, watch discussion oriented TV programs. This exercise will be very helpful while taking the telephonic interviews.
- Be cool, enjoy yourself. Remember you have the skills the client needs.
- When you address the Interviewer, Use his/her first name or put Mr. before last name. This is important while talking to the interviewer.
- Listen carefully to the interviewer's questions. Understand the question and start your answer by recollecting your experiences and knowledge.
- If you are unable to understand the question, please request the interviewer to repeat the question.
- At the end of the interview, say "Thank You" or "Thanks for your time" and put down the phone very slowly.
- After the interview is over, recollect what you had told, how you performed. List down where you were lacking. These points will help you better your performance the next time around.
